You may have heard or seen messages against Palantir’s involvement in the NHS. Surely on Twitter, with an oddly similar pattern of tweets (every single one is the same).
And, funny enough, most of them come from Twiter accounts with few followers and almost every one has been sent from a “Twitter Web App”… Ok.
I was looking for info of the NHS contract, and if it had been awarded to Palantir, when I began seeing all these copy-pasted tweets, and there I decided to dig a bit deeper into who is defaming the image of Palantir and what they do.
The leading actor in this campaign looks to be Foxglove, a “non-profit community interest company” based in the UK. I may be young but I have good memory, and I remember they were involved in the actions that led to Palantir being removed from one of the Social Care deals inside the UK Government.
Something catches my attention… openDemocracy. If you didn’t know, this NGO was created by the Open Society Foundations. OSF was founded by George Soros. George Soros began a position in Palantir in 2012 and sold everything just when Palantir went public. He has an interest against Palantir, let’s leave it there.
Ok, so a man who is best known for destroying currencies is using his partners to campaign against a company that has helped in saving lives through the best vaccine campaign in the world and keeps terrorists out of our lives. Perfect.
Not just that, but there’s another detail about Foxglove. They aren’t just partners, Soros is one of the main donors. He uses these little organizations to extend his reach, but will never show his face to do it himself. Brave isn’t precisely the word.
But wait, Soros isn’t the main donor, what is Luminate? Never heard of them. Well, a quick search yields Luminate is founded by the Omidyar Group. Mr Omidyar has quite a close relationship with… George Soros. They do partner in few cases.
That’s not super important, tho. Powerful people are keen to partner in joint ventures.
One of the other petitioners is OpenRights Group (you know where this is going). Same thing I did with Foxglove; went to their donors.
Open Society Foundations, more than £110,000 in donations. Just look at the others, it’s almost a joke at this point. It’s the same organization over and over again. The public may think the company is so bad it’s encouraging the creation of new NGOs they obviously didn’t see before!
But what bothers me is seeing “a lot” of NGOs signing petitions against a company for doing a professional work with the NHS that will save lives, while spreading FUD and lies on data collection. And because the man sold and doesn’t hold any shares, they need to destroy the company because the optics are bad. Come on.
Have you used Palantir to connect the dots?
Great first article Either!
The author still can’t link foxglove open democracy and open society to palantir it’s all blurry anyway I can’t connect those dots yet
