Palantir's Presence in Europe Today
Explaining how the major countries are using Foundry and Gotham
We have talked a lot about how Palantir is helping solve real world problems; how they are involved in defending Ukraine, how they make supply chains more efficient and how their platforms have helped halve waiting lists in hospitals.
Although not their biggest market, Foundry is being used by a growing list of companies in Europe (and so is Gotham but in quite a smaller scale). We always talk about “Europe” as a compact unit, a market comparable to the United States, but in reality not every European country uses Foundry the same as others, and some may not even use it at all.
Of course, the United Kingdom is the most active country of the region and is incomparable to the other continental countries, so to draw similarities and differences would prove useless. It’s basically too big.
France and Germany, of course, are the 2 main countries on European soil. So the fact they are the primary users of Palantir software isn’t surprising. They are big on Foundry and heavily rely on Gotham to safeguard their citizens. Germany has recently extended their use of the platform to more regional states, and although a major legal challenge is ongoing, Palantir is a big necessity for the German federal government, and their use by the police is strictly limited to prevent attacks and lower criminality.
A very similar case is found in France, and even if they have publicly acknowledged they would like to adopt a national solution, Palantir is the only platform that can deliver on their needs, and they can’t afford to not use it. There’s literally no “viable national alternative”.

And what about Foundry in those 2 countries? What’s their use? Well, they rank 1st and 2nd on European land (in DataBase links), of course, and they have the most Foundry entities of the continent.
They both have their own Foundry link format, and that helps a lot in categorizing them and their users, which are dozens. Growing every quarter and with a big presence of Energy clients. Engie is, for example, a big French corporation using Foundry.
Are there any other European countries using Foundry? Well, just using links and their location bases, I’ve made up a map inside DataBase that perfectly shows which nations are using it directly. Of course, bear in mind, it’s with all probability used in more countries through suppliers and other customers of Palantir clients, but what we know for sure is this.
Every big nation uses Foundry, and we know Spain and Portugal have access to SkyWise through their own airlines, but this is what links yield. And it’s not bad.
Poland has also recently reported Ministries are using Palantir software and even the Prime Minister has access to Gotham. Poland has also been pretty active with Foundry for Governments, a Palantir solution they provided when the war first began, and the Polish and Lithuanian governments needed help in managing refugees coming in from Ukraine.

And of course, other European countries, like Switzerland and the Netherlands, have Foundry clients, but not direct access to Gotham, that we know of. Yes, the Netherlands and Italy are part of NATO, but are pretty silent on their use of the Palantir platform, if they have it.
On the other side, Spain is leaning closer to using Palantir directly in their security efforts through the Ministry of Defense. And just the other day, on December 2nd, they signed a PoC (Proof of Concept) with the Ministry to provide a Data Ingestion tool demo for the armed forces. It’s a 250k€ deal, but in case they decide to go forward with Palantir, the contract signed would be a fair amount and growing every year. With the potential to grow inside other departments just as Palantir did with the US and the UK governments.

Palantir is still establishing itself in Europe, and time will be needed for them to achieve maturity. We are going to get there, but we need to have patience.
Always a pleasure to read Either!
