There’s been much talk about Palantir providing Gotham, their global decision making OS, to Western countries and we’ve all seen examples of its powerful functions in deterrence and terror prevention, keeping us safe and maintaining stability in the world.
And then we saw how Foundry was slowly being adopted by major governments to manage covid vaccines and prevent cases, and even for helping in the refugee crisis that developed from the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Later we saw how Palantir was also ready to help the Turkish people in the aftermath of the earthquakes that happened 1 month ago.
But today I want to talk about Palantir’s presence in the African continent. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve rarely seen Palantir in the news when talking about Africa, other than work by NGOs that are a partner or a client. I’ve been gathering data about entities in the region and efforts from the United States and public agencies doing work there for some time now.
As DataBase users have known for a while, I’ve been tracking some Palantir Gov links and was able to establish a connection to the Kenyan Ministry of Health and their efforts in fighting AIDS. And all those links lead to NASCOP - National AIDS/STD Control Programme of the Government of Kenya.
And what about other African countries using Palantir? We have a whole range of nations from the continent that are working with the State Department, and the majority of them are using Foundry to combat AIDS and other viruses, under the authority of PEPFAR - the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
So what are these other countries? Even if codenames for the program, software provided by Palantir is supporting a large chunk of Africa. And I’ve compiled them in DataBase, as those who have access to it can see under the Palantir Gov section.
There are names like Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Namibia… Countries that are directly benefiting from the power and outcomes of Foundry.
And all of the info above doesn’t even take into account the work that the World Food Programme does in the region, and we all know Palantir is already lending a hand there.
Do we know if Gotham is being used there? I don’t think so, but I do believe Foundry can further benefit Africa in different ways, and these Health initiatives can serve as first steps of a potentially big market, since the continent is poised to grow more than any other in the world in the coming years.
I’m confident that Palantir will become a decisive tool in African businesses in the next decade, and that we will hear more from Foundry and examples of its benefits in these countries.
Super curious, thanks for sharing!
