Be the First and be the Best
Recent history shows us that Palantir is quick to adapt to new market trends, yielding new clients and assured success while fighting the good fight
Palantir has always been quick to adapt to any new unexpected scenario. Instead of whining and declaring a war they will not win in the short or mid term, they will embrace the new change of paradigm and work to live comfortably in that new ecosystem. It’s in their nature. They did that when ChatGPT was released to the public. You remember what Palantir did? They announced the integration of the new language model and correctly predicted a wave of competition, bringing everything together under the umbrella of K-LLMs, which everyone in the industry came in support of, and essentially rebranded Foundry as AIP, putting Palantir in the center of the public’s perception of the new tools bringing AI into everyone’s life.
They are doing just that in the context of the recent global trade shift and what President Trump’s tariffs are doing and are going to do in the mid to long term. Instead of beginning a useless and exhausting battle, Palantir is embracing them. They are going to take the platforms that we know and they are going to direct the angle of AIP and Foundry at the imminently new market needs. Yesterday it was LLMs, but tomorrow will be tariffs, which will come anytime, especially depending on industry and when they are going to impact. A couple of days ago Palantir published a Medium post, Mastering Tariffs with Palantir, which explains in detail how their software is going to help their clients navigate tariffs and, in the process, save money.
They are aware of the change and they will face any possible consequences.
Fear will always exist, and we will feel it sometimes. This time with these new tariffs and the short term stock price implications expect some shock to transcend into the market, but that shouldn’t discourage us from looking at the big picture and realizing we’re in good hands. Palantir have managed in worse situations.
There’s also the fact that Palantir has an ally in the White House, and that ally often takes different forms. It’s been a difficult relationship to obtain, but it solidified in 2016 when a judge ruled that the US government needed to select the best possible commercial solution, even if the government was trying to develop its own platform. I’m talking about a contract between them and the Department of the Army, and Palantir won.
Whoever rules the White House and needs to make a decision using their brain will favor Palantir for the sole fact of owning the most efficient keys to winning. We’ve seen huge contracts under the Biden administration. That was a White House led by bureaucrats who weren’t particularly supportive of some of the people at the helm of the company. The ethics and morals behind Palantir’s nature, mainly embodied by the Yin and Yang between Dr. Karp and Peter Thiel, attracted some controversy, but that didn’t change the fact that Palantir just works, and those at the top of the defense and intelligence apparatus are very much aware of that. Not only that, but they have also spoken publicly in favor of the company.
Now that this Substack is opening to Anduril information, we need to pay close attention to the relationship that hopefully intensifies between the Trump administration and the company, especially Palmer Luckey, Trae Stephens and Brian Schimpf, including others.
The 2024 US Presidential election brought many changes to Washington, and one that is positive for all of us is a closer connection between the White House and the tech industry. Needless to say, the current geopolitical landscape favors protagonists like Palantir and Anduril, but the AI world has also been captured by these companies. They play with the advantage of doing real work with battle-tested products plus they have a reputation of mysterious (ergo, attractive) business.
In times of rapid social change, while a part of the young generation turns towards wokeism (even if a temporary fashion) there’s another that craves for success and feels the need to fight for their way of life. Here’s where Palantir has also been the first to adapt and, instead of fighting another useless battle and try to put themselves in a comfortable middle position / lactose-free milk / decaffeinated coffee / meatless meat, they’ve been confronting the social battle. They’re proud to defend the West, so everyone who doesn’t feel afraid to do so and has talent for it should apply to work there. They did that when Hamas attacked Israel and they’re doing it as of today, too.
We are in good hands. We are lucky to have a symbiosis between the executive branch and companies with the talent and success history to back their initiatives, to make the West endure. We need these companies to make the most out of these contracts, of these missions, primarily represented by our 2 main actors in this journey; Palantir and Anduril.
Their success is ours, and we can’t forget that or let stock price change our gray matter. We are here to win.
