Anduril is (Finally) Expanding to Europe
The company announced they are partnering with Rheinmetall to build drones, missiles and other military equipment for the old continent
Germany’s largest arms manufacturer is the latest company to partner with Anduril, and it comes just weeks after the Meta announcement regarding Lattice and XR. It’s a sign of the current times we’re living in, and it represents the adaptation that Anduril is currently undergoing before they go public. The path is clear, and they are successfully walking the talk.
Europe has been the largest hurdle for American companies in the modern defense industry. We all know of the effort and resources that are required to seduce the likes of France and Germany to adopt these solutions Made in the USA. We have the examples of what happened with HessenData and with what the French DGSI (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure) did to replace Gotham as the primary platform to prevent and deter terrorist attacks.
You can read an article on HessenData that I wrote in June of 2023.
With Anduril, however, it’s more of a visual appeal. You can see the missiles, the drones and the submarines, and that makes the selling process more approachable, more visceral. Palantir is a great mystery to many people who, for whatever reasons, don’t care to understand it, but Anduril on the other hand is easy to read. What you see is what you get.
I know I’m not the only one watching in awe when new videos appear on the YouTube timeline showcasing new Anduril products, new technologies that you know will be detrimental in keeping peace and maintaining our way of life, and this makes me excited and optimistic.
Rheinmetall is no stranger to Anduril folk, for about a year ago they joined forces to develop C-sUAS air defense systems.
Under this collaboration, Rheinmetall and Anduril will work together to design, develop, and produce new layered Counter small Unmanned Aerial System (C-sUAS) air defense systems. The scope of this collaboration is primarily to address European markets first.
Rheinmetall and Anduril join forces to develop C-sUAS system
Why is this any different? With last week’s announcement, both companies agreed to develop the following three capabilities;
The integration of a European variant of Anduril’s Barracuda as part of Anduril’s family of low-cost, mass-producible autonomous air vehicles into Rheinmetall’s digital sovereignty framework “Battlesuite”,
The inclusion of a European variant of Anduril’s Fury, a high-performance, multi-mission group 5 autonomous air vehicle (AAV), into Rheinmetall’s digital sovereignty framework “Battlesuite”,
The exploration of opportunities for solid rocket motors for European use leveraging Anduril’s new production approaches.
The most exciting part, however, is their intention to extend to more capabilities in the coming years. Up until now their market was primarily based in the US, the UK and Australia, but the Rheinmetall x Anduril announcement confirms a desire to move beyond and try to insert themselves as a solid European defense contractor. Integrations with Palantir are expected, as they do in the US with TITAN.
In a world that constantly appears to be on the verge of yet another war breaking out, and especially when talking about Europe, Western nations need to be able to defend themselves, not just rely on diplomatic efforts and however the European Union decides to act. Anduril provides lethal, visual solutions that serve as the embodiment of peace through strength. It’s no longer a matter of if, but when the time comes will you be prepared and equipped with lethality in the form of cutting-edge technology to guarantee your independence?
